This convenient option eliminates the need to write checks or to have cash for your offering envelope. Scheduling an automatic regular payment (weekly, monthly) provides the parish a level of predictability, particularly during seasons of potentially inclement weather, or when you might be away on vacation.
In most cases, banks offer it free of charge to you and to the parish. There are no "hidden fees". You should be able to set it up online at your bank’s website. Where you are asked for an account number, insert your parish envelope number. In the memo section, note the Sunday of the offering, or the holy day, "second collection", or charitable cause, so the parish can correctly distribute your offering and note it on your year-end tax statement.
